[Class 39 (i)] An indirectly heated cathode for an electric discharge tube has a tubular cathode body 1 which is pressed together at one only of its ends for part of its length by squeezing, hammering or the like, preferably about a rod-shaped part 3, to provide a means whereby it may be centred. In the form shown the cathode body is squeezed together on three sides so as to form ridges 2, Fig. 2, the rod 3 then acting as a centring member. In a modification, the end of the cathode itself may be pressed into the shape of a rod. Specification 443,535 is referred to.
