[Class 12 (i)] In a bearing of the pivot and cup type the non-rotating member is resiliently supported so that it can follow lateral movements of the other member. As shown a jewel cup a is mounted in a stem b carried by a flexible diaphragm d fixed at its perimeter to a collar g. The latter screws into, or is a push fit in, a sleeve h fixed to a bracket i. A flange j on the sleeve h limits the lateral play of the stem b. When the collar g is removed from the sleeve h lateral movement of the stem is limited by a projection b<1> passing through a clearance hole e<1> in a ring e fixed to the collar g. The diaphragm d may have perforations, or it may be replaced by a spider, or crossed wires, or plates. Specification 29900/13, [Class 12 (i)], is referred to.
