Abstract

456,878. Copy-holders. WILL, W., 14, Karl Schurzstrasse, Duisburg, Germany. May 18, 1936, No. 14019. [Class 100 (iii)] A copy-holder adapted to be removably fixed on the carriage of a typewriter comprises a copyholding cylinder carried by jointed members, the lower parts of which are in the form of adjustable riders to engage the carriage, so that the device can be angularly adjusted to different distances from the operator. The copy-holding cylinder 3 is mounted in end-plates 2 supported on a rod 4 of rectangular cross-section. Riders 5, mounted to slide on the rod 4, are formed with adjustable jaws 5a to engage over the top edge of the paper-guide 7 of the typewriter. The plates 2 can be angularly adjusted on the rod 4, and are clamped by nuts 10. The copy is held on the cylinder by curved springs and spring-pressed rollers 12, which can be lifted off by means of a finger-lever 18. A lineindicating bar 16 is carried by arms 17. The cylinder 3 is turned by means of knobs 1a or levers, or is actuated by the line-spacing lever of the typewriter. The cylinder may be made of press-spahn, and the other parts, some of which may be hollow, are of light metal.
