Abstract
456,512. Centrifugal gas cleaners. BIETH, T. C., 25, Landsgatan, Hedemora, Sweden. Nov. 11, 1935, No.20680/36. Divided out of 455,882. [Class 23] A cyclone separator in which the separated dust passes to the collector 10 through a slot in the separator wall, has another slot 21 in the wall through which gas is drawn from the collector to reduce the pressure in it thereby aiding the collection of the dust. The apparatus shown in Figs. 1, 2 consists of a drum part 1 with an entry chamber 3 and a conical separating chamber 2 with a uniform slot 19 or a divergent slot 20 in its wall for the passage of the separated dust. One edge of the slot may overlap the other. A pipe 17 conducts gas from the top of the dust collector 10 to the end of the separating chamber 2 to lower the pressure in the collector 10. This action is assisted by the passage of gas through the slot 21 in the wall of the drum 1, caused by the suction effect of the whirling gas. The slot may be provided in the end plate of the separator and a pipe 41 then connects the slot to the collector 10. The upper part of the pipe 41 may be in the form of a flanged box. The pipe 17 may proceed in a spiral at its upper end where it joins the separating chamber 2, and terminates with an opening 35, Fig. 7, at the centre of the spiral, or at a part 36 directed in the direction of gas rotation in the chamber.
