456,431. Converting. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Feb. 1, 1935, No. 3325. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 2, 1935]. [Class 38 (ii)] In a grid-controlled arc rectifier 2, the grid voltages are supplied by a synchronous generator 4 having a peaky wave form and driven by a synchronous motor 5. Phase adjustment of the control voltages is effected by displacement of the stator of either the generator or the motor, or by the displacement of the magnetic axis of either the generator or the motor by varying the relative magnitudes of two field components, or by using an eddy current brake to give lag and a D.C. motor 6 to give lead to the shaft of the machines 4 and 5.
