455,688. Vibrating - plate propellers. SANDERS, C., 59, Bolderweg, Den Helder, Holland. Jan. 21, 1935, No. 1927. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1934. [Classes 4 and 114] Vibrating plates for propelling watercraft and aircraft are arranged symmetrically about a longitudinal axis and are provided with actuating mechanism for producing a flapping motion about a transverse axis and a lateral tilting about the longitudinal axis either simultaneously or separately. Plates d, d<1> have levers which are connected through universal joints q with levers p reciprocated from a power unit. The plate bosses are mounted on shafts u, u<1> secured to shafts r, t, which may be oscillated by crank levers l, l<1> on shafts which can also be power driven. When a combined flapping and tilting motion is given there is a virtual change of axis of oscillation.
