Abstract
455,404. Plug couplings. PARSONS, Ltd., C. H., and HANDLEY, G. B., Wharfdale Road, Tyseley, Birmingham. Nov. 13, 1935, Nos. 31347 and 33233. [Class 38 (i)] A socket fitting having shutters 16 that cover the live sockets 6 when the plug member P is withdrawn, is fitted with a parallelmotion linkage on which the shutters are mounted and by which they are connected to an inclined extension 32 that is engaged by the earth-pin of the plug member to cause the shutters to uncover the sockets 6. The shutters 16 are carried by levers 17, Fig. 9, carrying pivot pins 20, 19 by which connection is made to a mounting plate 22 and to a link 31. The link 31 is supported on a lever 30 and carries the extension 32. A blade spring 27 presses on flats at the bottom of the levers 17 to keep the shutters normally over the live sockets, the end 15 of the spring being clamped under the earthing socket, a plate attached thereto having a hole for the mounting screw, as has also a plate 23 attached to the member 22. The sockets and their associated terminals are mounted in recesses in the base 4.
