Abstract
455,322. Printing-machines. LEVANE, R., 22, Westbourne Street, Lancaster Gate, London. Aug. 23, 1935, No. 23653. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii)] In apparatus for issuing gummed strip paper 21 for packing or like purposes, the strip passes between a printing-roller 1 and an impression roller 4, the impression-roller being raised by springs to force the strip into contact with the printing-roller and depressed by manual operation. In one form, the impression - roller spindle 5 is mounted in slots 6 in side-plates 3 and is supported by spring-arms 7 which are depressed by extensions 101 on a hand lever 9 when the strip is to be inserted between the rollers 1, 4. In a modified form, the extensions 10<1> engage hook-shaped ends on the spring arms 7. A clip 12 is provided for holding the hand-lever 9 in inoperative position, in the form shown in the Figure. An inking-roller 13, the web-supply roll 16, and a guide-roller 22 are also mounted on the side plates 3, which are adjustable laterally by a screwed spindle 27 to accommodate various width printing and rollsupporting devices and to act as a brake on the roll. The guide roll 22 consists of one or more sleeves loosely rotatable on a spindle 24.
