Abstract
455,046. Metal articles and forms. GORDON, F. F., 461, Whirlowdale Road, Sheffield. March 12, 1935, No. 7644. [Class 83 (ii)] In the manufacture of saws, cutting tools or blanks and strips therefor, three or more bodies of metal a, b, a, Fig. 2, are placed face to face and bonded together after which pressure is applied as by rolls c, d, in a direction parallel to the planes of the abutting faces. The section is thereby reduced to the form shown in Fig. 3. The metal a may be relatively soft compared to the metal b which latter is to form the operative part of the tool. By division longitudinally through the metal b two hack-saw strips may be made Figs. 11, 12 and 13 show the production of a safety razor blade from a composite blank with a soft metal part a and harder metal parts b. The bond used may be that described in Specification 436,401.
