Abstract

A number of rods, wires, strips, &c. are reduced simultaneously by drawing, rolling, swaging, &c. operations, the elements being composed of an alloy containing more than 10 per cent of chromium. The reduced elements may be formed into stranded wire or cable as described in Specification 437,206, [Group XXII]. Alloy steels such as described in Specifications 316,394, [Class 82 (i)], 362,902, and 396,809, or nickel alloys such as one containing 80 per cent of nickel and 20 per cent of chromium may be employed. Alloy steels may comprise up to 0,2 per cent of carbon, 6-14 per cent of nickel, and 10-20 per cent of chromium.
