Convention dates, May 25 and July 2. [Class 141] Spats of the kind made to open along the inside of the leg, and provided at both sides of the opening with stiffening strips which carry releasable fastenings, are characterized by the provision of a lower fastening comprising a pin on one spat portion adapted to be inserted in an eyelet in the other spat portion. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the spat portion b is provided with a stiffener e to the lower end of which is connected an eyelet g which is engaged by a pin h carried by a stiffener f on the other spat portion c. The upper fastener comprises press button elements i, which are connected directly to one spat portion, and to the other spat portion by means of a looped tab k. In a modification, Fig. 3, two additional stiffeners f<1>, fll are provided which are spaced to accommodate the ankle bone between them, and also serve to carry the elements of the upper and lower fasteners. The spats may be waisted by the provision of puckers on the side opposite to the fasteners.
