Abstract

453,987. Borehole pumps. PULSOMETER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and GIBBS, B. H., Nine Elms Iron Works, Reading. Dec. 13, 1935, No. 34689. [Class 110 (i)] Intermediate elements of a borehole pump comprise a casing pipe 1 screwed at both ends, a part 8 at the lower end with stationary blades suitable for receiving the water discharged from the rotor of the element below and a pump unit comprising a shaft 4, rotor 3 and fixed guide blades 7. The rotor 3 is screwed on to its shaft 4 and is secured by a pin 5. The upper end of the rotor is tapped to receive the end of the shaft of the element above. The thread of this tapping is the same as that of the threading on the exterior of the pipe 1, so that pipe and shaft can be screwed home at the same time. This is done by means of a tool inserted through a hole 12 and entering a hole 13. A centrifugal booster pump may be inserted between the pump head and the first of the pipe elements.
