Abstract

410,322. Pumping-sets. MORAN, D. J., Lincoln Building, East 42nd Street, New York, and BENNETT, E. O., Ponca City, Oklahoma, both in U.S.A. May 31, 1933, No. 15720. [Class 110 (i).] A centrifugal pump 5 is driven by an electric motor 9 through a coupling 12, the motor and coupling being surrounded by the annular passage 13 through which cooling liquid flows on its way to the pump. The apparatus is shown connected in the pipe line 1, 7 and an oil pump 21 on the motor shaft circulates lubricant from the sump 20 to the bearings by pipes 22, 25 which pass through the cooling fluid. The lubricant returns to the sump 20 by the pipe 26. In a modification the motor is not included in the pipe line, but has a casing closed by end plates carrying the bearings. The pipe 22 which conveys the lubricant to the bearings is located in a cooling jacket supplied with the pumped liquid.
