Abstract

337,683. Saunders, A. Jan. 14, 1930. Casings; balancing moving parts. - A centrifugal pump, conveniently fitted to various engines, has two detachable and adjustable covers I, J, both serving as interior walls of the pump, cover I carrying the inlet A. The casing E carries the .outlet D and a drainplug or tap H. Cover J has a flanged bush V, for the end X of impeller shaft, with an axial hole 22 for lubrication and end slot or recess W for adjustment, a screw-cap 16 receiving the lubricant. The impeller is secured on a taper Z on the shaft by a key 18 and bears against a flanged bush Q with lubricator 24 in cover I. The bush Q is adjusted by packing U and gland-nut T in a boss 25 by which the pump is supported. The shaft R is slotted at 4 to receive a key 5 fitting an adaptor 11 suited for different engine drives, such as slotted, splined tubular, or peg drives. The blades B are preferably straight for right or left hand drive.
