Abstract
452,475. Cables. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. March 24, 1936, No. 8824. Convention date, May 29, 1935. [Class 36] In an air-space insulated trunk communication cable with one or more concentric or twisted double lines, the individual conductors of which are surrounded with spacing elements wound in open helical form therearound, the spacing elements 12 are formed of open or closed string windings, the string of which has a rectangular or approximately rectangular cross-section and consists of a rigid insulating substance, for example, polystyrol. Preferably, the rectangle of the cross-section of the string elements is curved convexly on the outer side of the string winding. Preferably, also, the direction of winding of the string forming the spacing elements 12 is of opposite hand to the direction of winding of the spacing elements round the conductors 10, 11. A closed sleeve of insulating material 13 in the form of a band winding is wound around each unit comprising a spacing element 12 and conductor 10 or 11.
