452,461. Electromagnetic interrupters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and ROSE, W. R., c/o General Electric Co., Ltd., Stoke, Coventry. June 20, 1935, No. 17686. [Class 38 (v)] In an electromagnetic vibrator type relay or interrupter having an operating coil, an armature carried on a spring and a flat contact - making spring or springs, the said springs forming a unitary assembly which is fixed as a whole to the framework of the relay, adjusting means is provided to form part of the contact and armature spring assembly, the said adjusting means comprising a screw provided with a conical portion engaging an insulated stud on a contact spring, this screw co-operating with a thread in a hole formed in a split rectangular member inserted as part of the contact and armature spring assembly. As shown in the Figure the contact and armature structure comprises a blade spring 11 carrying an armature on one side and a contact tip on the other, the latter co-operating with a relatively fixed contact tip on a blade spring 12. The blade spring 12 is adjusted by having an insulating stud 65 bearing against a conical portion 16 of an adjusting screw entering the bifurcated end of a block 13. The two blade springs together with interposed insulating plates 10 and a spacing block form a unitary structure which is held together by the outer pair of the screws 7 engaging screwed holes in the block 9, the structure thus formed being attached by the central screw 7 to a flat permanent magnet 8 forming part of the magnetic circuit, which includes a yoke piece 3, core 2 and polar extension 5. The armature is arranged to vibrate between the extension 5 and the free end of the magnet 8 the energizing coil 1 being connected in series with the interrupter springs so that a self-interrupting action is obtained. An A.C. may be derived from a separate coil on the same core as the operating coil or from a tappng on the latter. Specification 433,906 is referred to.
