Abstract

433,906. Light-current relays. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and ROSE, W. R., c/o General Electric Co., Stoke, Coventry. June 4, 1934, No. 16559. [Class 38 (v)] A tuned relay or interrupter has a V- shaped armature carried by a blade spring 9 and adapted to vibrate within a correspondingly shaped air gap formed between a yoke 1 and a member 4 attached to the fixed core 5. The spring 9 carries a contact 11 adapted when the spring 9 is vibrating in correspondence to current variations in the coil 2, to engage intermittently a co-operating contact on a relatively fixed spring 8. The position of this contact may be varied by adjustment of a screw 12, having a conical portion engaged by an insulating stud 16 on the spring 8. In a modified form adapted for a lower rate of vibration, a tapered armature in a correspondingly tapered air gap is adapted in its motions to control interrupter contacts so as to produce a self-interrupting unit, additional contacts in a controlled circuit being operated by the movement of the armature, Figs. 2 and 3, (not shown).
