Abstract

715,023. Electromagnetic relays. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 16, 1952 [Jan. 31, 1951], No. 2452/51. Class 38(5) The armature I of a relay is biased by a blade spring 8 which may be adjusted, as by a screw 9, so as to bias the armature either towards or away from the pole piece 3 of the magnet, and therefore so as to act either against or with the normal restoring force for the armature. The armature 1 is hinged to the frame 2 by a flexible member 1<SP>1</SP> and carries a screw 9, the head of which has a circumferential slot 9<SP>1</SP> embraced by the forked lower end of the spring 8 which is fixed at its upper end to the saddle 6. The spring 8 has the shape of a triangular frame so that a screw 10 is accessible for adjusting the position of a bowed spring 12 which determines the position of a stop 11 and thereby the minimum air gap between the armature and pole piece 3.
