452,223. Engine steam supply. WITKOWITZER BERGBAU-UND EISENHUTTENGEWERKSCHAFT, and METZNER, O., Mõhrisch-Ostrau, Czecho Slovakia. March 12, 1935, No. 7713. Convention date, March 21, 1934. [Classes 110 (iii) and 122 (iii)] To prevent cooling of parts of a steam main 3, e.g. when some boilers of a battery 1 are not in use, the ends of the main are con. nected either to the supply pipes 2 or to the discharge pipes 4 by a pipe 7 and leads 8 of smaller diameter thereby ensuring a continuous circulation of steam. Valves 9 in the leads 8 may be used when warming the pipes 4 and turbines 5 and for byepassing the shut-off valves 6 at starting. Valves 10 which allow a small leakage of steam when in the closed position are placed between the ends of main 3 and the leads 8, the valve adjacent the portion of the main carrying the main volume of steam being closed. When a battery of boilers are connected by a U main, Fig. 3, the blind ends of the main are connected by pipe 7 to a constricted portion 11 of the discharge 4.
