451,873. Bobbins. METAL CASTINGS, Ltd., Droitwich Road, and THOMAS, G., Fieldside, Morris Avenue, both in Worcester. April 13, 1935, No. 11473. [Class 120 (iii)] A bobbin consists of a wooden barrel B and heads or flanges A of metal, or synthetic resin which are formed with gaps G extending through the thickness of the flanges and separated by ribs F which on the inside are formed with knife edges H ; the flanges are driven on to the ends of the barrel, the edges H cutting into the barrel and separating the ends into parts which pass into the gaps G and secure the barrel and flanges together ; the gaps G are recessed at the inside of the flanges to shroud the ends of the barrel and prevent them splitting. The flanges may have bosses J extending into the barrel and the bosses may have vanes K for guiding the bobbin spindle.
