Bobbins, particularly for use in spinning and weaving, comprise a wound paper tube a the adjacent layers of which are bonded together with synthetic resin, portions of the tube such as the guide portion c and the base portion b being increased in thickness by the application thereto by moulding of a synthetic resin compound, for example synthetic resin and a filler such as sawdust. Holes d in the tube a become filled with the resin compound to form anchoring pins.
