Abstract

451,803. Matting. POMEROY, C. J., c/o India Tyre & Rubber Co., Ltd., Inchinnan, Renfrewshire. May 25, 1935, No. 15254. [Class 142 (iv)] [See also Group V] Rubber matting comprises a body part 1 of rubber having strips 2 of rubberized cord material partly embedded in the upper surface of the rubber body so as to provide a series of spaced ribs. The strips 2 may comprise laminations of cords bonded by pre-vulcanization with rubber, the cords of adjacent layers being at opposite bias angles so that the ends of the cords are exposed at the upper faces of the strip. The strips 2 may be continuous from end to end of the mat as shown or they may be interrupted and the interruptions may be such that the strips are arranged in staggered relationship with one another. The strips may be straight or they may be of zigzag or sinuous formation. The grooves defined by the exposed upper surfaces of the rubber body may be arcuate so that each rubber strip is supported against lateral movement.
