Description

Patented June 9, 1942 UNITED .STATES PATENT OFFICE This invention relates to conveyer aprons for combines and similar devices, and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which will be more serviceable by increasing its span of life or usefulness over similar devices now in use which are easily damaged or made unfit for service due to the cleats r slats thereof which are secured in place by fasteners tearing loose within a short period of time.
With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts'which will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompa ying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a top plan view illustrating a conveyer apron constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a fragmentary longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary perspective view illustrating one of the reinforcing strips.
Referring in detail to the drawing. the numeral 5 indicates as an entirety the apron consisting primarily of a sheet 6 of combined rubber and canvas having a selected width and length and-has secured to one end thereof a series of straps 1 provided with apertures and secured to the opposite end of a plurality of buckles 8 for receiving the straps for connecting the sheet of .35

A flap II is provided at one end of the sheet 6 for covering the straps 1- and buckles 8 when the sheet is arranged in endless formation.
The slats are of rectangular shape in cross section, as shown in Figure 3, so as to readily gather material on the apron during the use thereof and the slats being vulcanized onto the sheet 6 as well as the reinforcing elements 9 will prevent said slats from tearing loose during the use of the device, consequently increasing the span of life of the device.
A device of this kind besides being durable may be manufactured and sold at a low cost.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
