Abstract

451,303. Cathode-ray tubes. COMPAGNIE POUR LA FABRICATION DES COMPTEURS ET MATERIEL D'USINES A GAZ, 12, Place des Etats-Unis, Montrouge, Seine, France. May 29, 1935, No. 15665. Convention date, June 13, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] A single accelerating electrode A is arranged between the emissive cathode K and an apertured electrode V, and a separate modulating electrode M is provided, the electrodes being so biassed that the electrons have negligible velocity at the electrode V which is thus the effective origin of a beam X accelerated by one or more anodes C and deflected as at D before reaching the image screen E. The electrodes A, V, are at positive potentials relatively to the cathode K of 10-50 and a few volts respectively. The grid M is negatively biassed and controls the intensity of the ray without substantially influencing the electron velocity at the electrode V, or the size of the spot on the screen E. The electrodes K, A, M, V, are arranged in a negatively biassed Wehnelt cylinder W closed at one end. The tube may contain gas for focusing. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a screen grid in the cylinder W and at positive potential, or at cathode potential and between the electrodes M and V. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
