450,299. Refrigerators. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Jan. 27, 1936, No. 2545. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1935. [Class 29] A refrigerating-machine for use in a refrigerator cabinet having a cooling compartment 14 and a machinery compartment 15 comprises, as a unit an evaporator 33, a compressor in a casing 30, and a refrigerant condenser 32 extending over the major portion of an exterior wall of the refrigerator and of channel-shaped cross section to strengthen it and enable supporting frames to be dispensed with. The condenser comprises two plates 37 and 38 provided with indentations which, when the plates are welded together at contacting points, form refrigerant passages. The plates are turned at their edges to form flanges 45 and 46 and thereby give the condenser a channel shaped cross section. The evaporator is connected by flexible copper pipes with the outlet 102 of the condenser and the inlet of the compressor and is also secured to the condenser by a pivoted bracket. The machine unit can therefore be deformed as desired in order to facilitate its removal from or replacement in the cabinet. The cabinet base is constructed as described in Specification 443,830.
