449,787. Wearing-apparel. BARCLEY, G. A., 155, Summit. Street. Newark, New Jersey, U.S.A. Nov. 25, 1935, No. 32583. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1934. [Class 141] A body-supporting undergarment comprises a section adapted partially to encircle the body and a second section, the ends of one section overlying the ends of the other section and being secured thereto by removable lines of stitches extending from the top edge to the bottom edge thereof at points spaced from the ends of the underlying section so that these latter ends form loose tabs to enable the circumferential dimension and the shape of the garment to be adjusted. The garment shown comprises a section A to the ends 1 of which an abdominal support 2 is secured, and a front section B which overlies the ends of the section A, and is secured thereto by means of lines of stitches 4. The section B consists, preferably, of two parts 5, 6, secured together by means of hooks and eyes 7. The bust pockets 8 are formed by separate pieces of material secured to the section A by means of stitching 4. Elastic strips and gores 19, 20, may be provided. In a modification, the garment is formed as a corset, and the abdominal support is dispensed with. In a further modification, the garment is formed as a brassiere, and the back section consists of two parts secured together by means of hooks and eyes.
