Abstract

449,577. Steering-indicator for motor vehicles. HATTON, R., Holly House, Portland Road, Selston, Nottinghamshire. March 29,1935, No. 9757. [Class 79 (v)] A steering-indicator mounted on the dashboard comprises a drum A operating the indicator finger and round which pass cables or chains F connected at their ends by clips N to the track rod T. The cables F pass through flexible tubes L fixed at one end to the indicator and at the other to a stay M near the track rod. The cables are connected to the ends of a chain fastened at C to the drum A so that its ends pass off the drum in opposite directions. The shaft of the drum carries a pinion G gearing with a wheel H on the shaft I of the indicator finger the ratio of the gearing G, H being 1 : 3, and the finger being arranged to move to the same angle as the steering wheels.
