Abstract

449,352. Asphalt &c. cauldrons. JENNINGS, T. G., Victoria Avenue, and PHOENIX ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., Phoenix Works, both in Chard, Somerset. April 11, 1935, No. 11235. [Class 107] The discharge aperture 6 of the inner pan D of an asphalt or like cauldron is surrounded by a ring flange 7 to which is connected, in a readily removable manner, a spout 9 which projects through the outer casing A of the cauldron and is fitted with a hand-operated pivoted disc valve 14. The connection between the spout and flange may comprise a bayonet joint 8, a screw-threaded joint, or spring clip or catch, or a cotter and pin may be employed. The spout is rotated to effect its connection or removal by a hand lever which engages with a hook 16 provided thereon. The disc valve is pivoted at 13 to a lug 12 on the spout and carries a hand lever 15 and a stop 17 which stop engages with the spout when the valve is closed.
