E., 133, Alexandra Road, East Croydon. Feb. 20, 1935, No. 5455. [Class 35] In a synchronous motor of the squirrel cage type, locking of the rotor at synchronous speed is obtained, without the use of peripheral synchronizing grooves, by means of holes in the core 1 underneath the bars. As shown, the squirrel cage bars are located in slots 3, and between these slots and the axis are provided arcuate holes 2 equal in number to the number of stator poles. Some or all of the rotor laminations are formed with slots so that the holes 2 extend partly or wholly through the complete core.
