[Classes 39 (iii) and 126] An electric heating element for use in an imitation fire comprises a slab A of fireclay or other refractory material in which are embedded pieces C of imitation coal or coke and which is formed with perforations B for the passage of flame-coloured light ; a coiled heating element D is supported on the face of the slab, between the pieces of imitation fuel. A coloured lamp, or a lamp with a coloured screen or polished copper reflector, is used behind the slab.
