Abstract
447,563. Endless-belt conveyers. MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and NYBORG, T. G., Meco Works, Worcester. Feb. 28, 1935, No. 6384. [Class 78 (i)] An auxiliary or loading conveyer for a main or gate conveyer 28, for use in coal-mines, comprises an endless belt 1 driven by a mangleroller drive 2, 7 from a lower level 25, where it is fed transversely by face conveyers, up a trough 6 having a substantially catenary slope to deliver end-on to the main conveyer 28. The mangle-roller drive of the auxiliary conveyer is provided in a driving head which carries the tension drum 4 of the main conveyer 28, the driving roller 2 of the mangleroller drive being driven from this tension drum by chain-and-sprocket mechanism. The second or jockey roller 7 of the mangle-roller drive is mounted in a sliding carriage 9 supported in guides 11, and is urged towards the roller 2 by a compression spring 19. The belt 1 as it leaves the return drum 3 passes under an idler roller 27 which maintains it at a low level. The lower horizontal portion of the trough 6 may be adapted for the insertion of additional sections for extension purposes.
