Abstract

Transformation products of castor oil in which the number of hydroxyl groups have been decreased and the number of double bonds increased by a treatment such as heating or blowing castor oil in the presence or absence of a metallic catalyst are condensed with maleic acid or maleic anhydride. The products may be used in the manufacture of emery paper and artificial leather. In examples castor oil which has been heated or blown is condensed with maleic anhydride.
