[Class 19] The bristles of a shaving brush are contracted by a movable sleeve g, Fig. 1, so that the brush can be inserted bristle end first into a protective casing h, Fig. 4, which may also form the handle. Bristles a are cemented in a ferrule c attached to a threaded cap d with an actuating collar f. The sleeve g slides on the ferrule c. The protector h is hollow and has a closed end j ventilated at k. The sleeve g may be guided on the ferrule c by mutual longitudinal indentations ending in bayonet joint slots and stops. The bristles may be additionally secured by a bolt t, Fig. 9, the cap d, Fig. 2, may be made as shown to act as a handle or may be provided with a threaded extension to engage the protective casing which then acts a handle. In a modification, Fig. 7, the sleeve g is retained by pins 23 engaging a lip 22. In another modification, Fig. 11, the sleeve g is expanded at 29 to fill space up to the cap d.
