Abstract

Cement is made by mixing blast furnace slag with fuel and raw materials which give hydraulic properties-e.g. cement raw meal or limestone meal-, the materials containing, or there being added, only sufficient moisture to yield a mixture in the form of grains or lumps, calcining the mixture on a constantly or periodically working grate, air being passed through the mixture after it has been ignited, and then grinding the calcined material. Wet-granulated or dry air-granulated slag may be used.
