Abstract

444,939. Pipe joints. BROMFORD TUBE CO., Ltd., and BONNEY, D., Wheelwright Road, Erdington, Birmingham. Aug. 10, 1935, No. 22612. [Class 99 (i)] In pipe joints in which the adjacent ends of two pipes 12 are held together by pins 23 driven more or less tangentially through holes in spigotal members 19, 20 located on the pipe ends, the middle portion of each hole being formed partly in both members so that the part of the pin in the middle of the hole is subjected to shear in a lengthwise direction but not in cross-section, the pins are made tapered so as to effect axial movement of the pipes during jointing. The pins may be of circular or rectangular section, and in the latter case may also be tapered radially. The invention is described applied to several different kinds of joints.
