Abstract

<PICT:0444404/III/1> An apparatus for degreasing metal articles and consisting of an open topped degreasing tank 1 having cooling coils 6 to control the height of the vapour, is provided with a removable vapour-tight hollow box 9 supported in the vapour space, whereby small articles may be treated without loss of solvent. The box which occupies about half the vapour space, may be supported on a perforated floor 3 mounted above the heated sump 8, or may be provided with flanges 10 which rest on the upper walls of the tank 1. A cold line 11 as described in Specification 417,188, is mounted on the upper walls of the box and consists of a pipe through which cooling water flows. A similar pipe 17 is mounted on the walls of the degreasing tank. The parts of the apparatus above these pipes are thereby maintained at atmospheric temperature.
