Abstract

Stable sulphuric acid ester salts of leuco vat dyestuffs are made in powder form by mixing together to form a paste, a moist alkali salt of the ester containing an excess of alkali and an agglutinant, and, if desired, urea and evaporating the paste to dryness, preferably under reduced pressure. Agglutinants mentioned are glucose, cane-sugar molasses, sulphite cellulose waste liquor, dextrin, gum, glue or mixtures thereof. In examples: (1) the potassium salt of the acid sulphuric acid ester of leuco - Bz. 2 : Bz 2<1> dimethoxy-dibenzanthrone and excess caustic soda solution are mixed with molasses syrup and urea and the mixture is evaporated to dryness in vacuo at about 60 DEG C.; (2) the same salt is mixed with an aqueous solution of dextrin and the mixture similarly dried; (3) the dyestuff in (1) is replaced by the sodium salt of the acid sulphuric acid ester of the leuco-compound of the dyestuff of Specification 24604/08, [Class 2].
