Abstract

Compositions for use as bleaching, washing, and cleansing agents comprise a mixture, by weight, of 1 part of oxygen yielding compounds, 2--6 parts of foaming agents, e.g. soaps, and about 1--3 parts each of salts of phosphoric acids having less water than orthophosphoric acid and of alkaline reacting inorganic salts. Other wetting, emulsifying, dispersing, washing, cleansing, steeping, rinsing, stabilizing and penetrating agents may also be added. In examples, mixtures consist of: (1) tetrasodium pyrophosphate or sodium polyphosphate (Na6P4O13) and soap, sodium perborate and calcined soda; (2) tetrasodiumpyrophosphate and sodium perborate in conjunction with soap, trisodium phosphate and sodium metasilicate or with borax and the sodium salts of fatty alcohol sulphuric esters; (3) tetrasodium pyrophosphate and sodium hexametaphosphate in conjunction with sodium bicarbonate and sodium perborate or with sodium metasilicate, sodium perpyrophosphate and the sodium salt of oleylmethyltaurine. The components may be mixed by atomization and may be in the liquid, paste or solid form. Oxygen yielding compounds also mentioned are percarbonates, persulphates and perphosphates, with or without stabilizing agents, e.g. magnesium compounds. Ammonium salts of phosphoric acids having less water than orthophosphoric acid may be used, such as hypophosphates, as well as salts of the said acids with triethanolamine, cyclohexylamine and aminopropandiols. Optional additions specified are solvents, such as alcohols and hydrocarbons and superfatting agents. The mixtures may be used in water containing iron. Specifications 428,961, [Group III], and 431,682 are referred to.ALSO:Compositions for use as washing and cleansing agents comprise a mixture, by weight, of 1 part of oxygen yielding compounds, 2--6 parts of foaming agents, e.g. soaps, and about 1--3 parts each of salts of phosphoric acids having less water than orthophosphoric acid and of alkaline reacting inorganic salts.
