[Class 120 (i)] In a carding-engine as described in Specification 417,345 wherein one or more composite plates or sheets 3 are arranged concentrically with the main or carding cylinder 1 and in close proximity to the carding teeth so as to become electrified statically during the operation of the machine by the friction of the fibres rubbing thereon, each of the said plates is constituted by a single element which may be of any suitable material and either a good or bad conductor. If the plate is of good conducting material it is insulated from the machine and preferably connected to one pole of a source of electrical energy 7.
