Abstract
442,606. Helmets. HELMETS, Ltd., Cromwell Works, Wheathampstead, HOBSON, H. T., 23, Clarence Road, St. Albans, and NOBLETT, T. J., Moat House, Wheathampstead, both in Hertfordshire. Sept. 19, 1934, No. 26960. [Class 63] [See also Groups VIII and XXXIX] A protective helmet for use by tank crews, aviators, car or motor cycle racers; or miners, has a dome 1 of cork about 10 m.m. thick, covered with a fireproof and water-proof layer 2, for example, fireproofed cotton fabric, which may be finished off and stoved with a fireproof enamel. The front of the helmet may have a protective bulge or cushion 4 of cork covered with the same materials. A leather sweat-band 9 is spaced from the helmet by a band of corrugated cork, and a cradle comprising loops of strong webbing, the free ends of which are laced together by a cord, may be provided. Ventilating eyelets 7 are of thick rubber. The sweat band carries permanently or detachably, ear flaps to house ear-phones, a number of tongues 13 perforated to receive a lace or cord being cut out of a piece of leather and sewn to the flap. According to the Provisional Specification the cradle, sweat-band, and ear-phone carriers, may be worn without the helmet.
