Abstract

An ink for use in rapid printing-processes consists of a pigment, a binder, and a solvent or a mixture of solvents, the preponderant solvent having a vapour pressure of less than 0.06 mm. at printing-temperature, preferably 20--25 DEG C., and rising rapidly so as to exceed 8 when heated to 95--150 DEG C. The vehicle preferably consists of a low viscosity nitrocellulose or artificial resin, with or without a plasticizer such as dibutyl phthalate, dissolved in diethylene glycol monobutyl ether or diethylene glycol monobutyl ether acetate; in the latter case, a small amount of a mixture of water and glycerine is added to counteract any tendency of the solvent to harden the distributing-rollers.
