Abstract
A printing or marking ink vehicle, substantially non-inflammable or having a flash point (opencup method) of at least 97 DEG F. comprises one or more resins and a solvent comprising methyl chloroform or a mixture of methyl chloroform and an inflammable solvent which mixture is non-inflammable or has a flash point of at least 97 DEG F.ALSO:Printing inks comprise solutions of vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymers or of a colophony/maleic acid/glycerine resin and nitrocellulose, in a solvent of which a major proportion is methyl chloroform, plus pigments and plasticizers. The inks are non-inflammable or of high flash-point and non-toxic. In an example a vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate/maleic acid terpolymer was used in the ink.
