Abstract
In precipitating metals from cyanide solutions by means of a metallic precipitant such as zinc dust, the precipitation is effected with a substantially neutral solution free from dissolved oxygen and containing a salt which serves both as a solvent for the precipitant and also to maintain the solution at a substantially constant hydrogen ion concentration. The salt may be a bisulphite such as sodium or calcium bisulphite.
