Abstract

442,269. Sifting-apparatus. DOWDALL, R., 132, Calle San Martin, Buenos Aires. Aug. 15, 1935, No. 22983. [Class 117] Apparatus for screening grain comprises a number of parallel discs 1 mounted on a rotary shaft 2 and spaced by discs 3. A hopper 9, distributer 10 and shoot 11 feeds the grain to the rising side of the discs. The undersize material falls through between the discs into a shoot 8, and the larger grains are carried round with the discs to the falling side where they are discharged into a shoot 14 by a comb 6 which penetrates between the discs and rotates in the same direction, being mounted on a shaft 7<a> parallel to and driven by chain gearing, from the shaft 2. The bottom edge of the shoot 11 is serrated at 13 so as to lie close to the peripheries of the discs.
