441,966. Annular-track wheels for vehicles &c. MARRIOTT, A. G. F., Bower Cottage, Ashby Road, Loughborough, Leicestershire. March 12, 1935, No. 7699. [Class 79 (i)] In a wheel for road and other vehicles and portable machinery, such as mixing machines, having a series of anti-friction rollers 4 between an inner wheel 2 and an annular rim 1, the rollers 4 have circumferential flanges 4a engaging grooves 1a, 2a in the rim 1 and wheel 2 respectively to prevent endwise movement of the rollers, the flanges 4a being parallel-sided whilst the grooves are dovetailed in cross - section to prevent flat facial contact between the flanges and the sides of the groove. There is a clearance between the peripheries of the flanges and the bottom of the grooves so that the bearing pressure of the rim 1 is taken wholly by the parts of the rollers adjacent the flanges. The flanges may be provided on the wheel parts and the grooves in the rollers. The rollers 4 are spaced circumferentially by spacing plates or rings 7 through holes in which the reduced ends 4b of the rollers project and receive keys 9. Small antifriction rollers 8 are provided between the roller ends 4b and the plates 7. Cover plates or rings 10, 11 are provided to close the sides of the wheel wholly or partially.
