Abstract
441,953. Moulding silica bricks &c. MELTHAM SILICA FIRE BRICK CO., Ltd., and GARDNER, W. J., Brick Works, Meltham, near Huddersfield. Oct. 31, 1934, No. 31178. [Class 87 (ii)] When moulds d carried by a cradle c have been filled, they are closed by a tray g secured by spring catches f. The cradle is then inverted about an horizontal axis by a hand wheel j, and a pedal-operated platform is raised until its bearers k<3> are in contact with the tray. The catches f are then released, and fingers w are turned inwardly to engage with a bar v having rods v<1> carrying plates v<2> in the moulds. When the platform is lowered, the plates v<2> force the moulded articles out of the moulds and leave them on the tray, which is then removed by hand for their further treatment. The fingers ware moved outwardly by cams during the lowering of the platform.
