770,660. Moulding blocks of concrete, coal dust &c. FOULKES, C. J. G., and HIGGS, E. S. M. [April 6, 1955 April 6, 1954], No. 10125/54. Class 87(2). Blocks are made in a mould 1 by inverting it, filling it with material, closing it by a plate 6 having flanges which engage over outwardly directed flanges 4 on the mould, and then, after turning the mould the right way up, tamping the material by a plate 10 which has limbs 12 to limit its downward movement. Flanges 3 on the mould limit its upward movement. Pattern plates 13 may be fixed to the plate 10 or the mould walls. After tamping, the plate 6 is removed, and the mould lifted whilst pressing down on the block with the plate 10. A removable filler may be placed in the mould for making smaller blocks. The mould walls may converge towards the top, and the limbs 12 may tend to spring outwardly, to facilitate removal of the block.
