441,283. Printing-machines. QUICK, C. G., BENNISON, W. E., and ALEXANDER, D. A. H., 109, Borough Road, London. July 17, 1934, No. 20938. [Class 100 (ii)] Impression adjustments.-In a rotary intaglio printing-machine the cylinders can be moved to and from each other by means which permit of a quick adjustment and also a fine adjustment, the movable roller being mounted in a slide 5 which is operable by screw-andnut mechanism capable of being driven by one of two pairs of gears 19, 21 ; 20, 22 either of which can be connected to a shaft operable by a hand-wheel 24 by means of a slidable clutch operated by a lever 26. The slide 5 is fitted with the impression roller 1 and by means of springs 11 the roller 1 is pressed into engagement with a pair of counterpressure rollers 3, 4, the roller 1 being arranged above the printing-roller 2 against which it is pressed by means of nuts 13, and screws 12 attached to the slides 5, the nuts 13 being driven by worm gearing 13, 14 driven from either of the gears 19, 21 ; 20, 22 in accordance with the setting of the clutch. To ensure parallelism of the ends of the roller 1, one of the slides 5 can be adjusted independently of the other by means of a worm wheel 28 secured to one screw 12 and a worm 29 journalled on the corresponding slide 5. The axes of the rollers 1, 3, 4 form an isosceles triangle, and the axis of roller 2 is arranged on the bisecting line of the apical angle of this triangle.
