Abstract

440,157. Sheet-delivery apparatus. CHAMBON, Ltd., Standish Road, Hammersmith, London.-(Anciens Etablissements L. Chambon; 64, Rue de CrimÚe, Paris) May 22, 1935, No. 14966. [Class 100 (i)] Apparatus for delivering sheets of paper, cardboard, or similar materials to a receptacle comprises parallel moving members having projecting arms or teeth between which the sheets are received for transfer to the receptacle, and fingers movable with the arms which co-operate therewith to import curvature to the sheets and give them rigidity during their delivery. The moving members comprise two spaced wheels 4, fixed to a shaft 6 and formed with teeth 7 between which the sheets 18 from delivery rollers 1, 2 are received. Between the two wheels 4, and pivoted to plates fixed to the wheels are two fingers 13 having wheels 16 at their inner ends running on a cam 12 so shaped as to cause the fingers to press against the sheet and curve it after it has been received on the supporting face 8 of the tooth 17 then adjacent to the rollers 1, 2. The face 8 is inclined at about 60‹ to the wheel radius at its base and is horizontal when receiving a sheet and vertical when delivering the sheet on to an inclined guide 24. The tip 25 of the following tooth and a rotary member 26 then push the sheet against the pile 3. Instead of the pivoted fingers 13, spring arms may be employed. The apparatus may be arranged to deliver to a pile beneath its level, and for this purpose the teeth 7 and the direction of rotation of the wheels are reversed in direction. An air jet may be employed to assist the transfer of the sheets to the pile from the wheels.
