[Class 40 (iv)] [See also Group XL] In a common wave broadcast transmission system, a high frequency carrier is transmitted from a main transmitter to sub-transmitters over lines having intermediate repeaters, the re-transmission from the sub-transmitters being at the same frequency or a multiple thereof. If frequency multiplication is not used, the carrier may be modulated at the main transmitter so that the sub-transmitters become merely high-frequency amplifiers. Specification 289,524, [Class 40 (v)], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also the application of repeaters to high frequency transmission lines in general, frequency changing being effected at the repeaters by the heterodyne method or by de-modulating, and re-modulating a different carrier frequency. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
